About

Hi there! I’m Catherine, a student at McGill University in Montreal studying Dietetics.

I firmly believe that food is a way of expression, whether you yourself is the creator or simply enjoying someone else’s creation. And so cooking and baking are parts of the experience. The smell of butter mleting in the pan or of an old-fashioned apple pie. The taste of creamy mac n’ cheese or of bittersweet chocolate. The texture of a crisp spring roll or the perfect (relative, of course) chocolate chip cookie. The colours of bell peppers or summer berries. The sound of the sizzling of a steak or that of the crackling of a baguette as it cools.

It’s all part of the experience.

This blog is dedicated to the art of cooking and baking, and I hope you enjoy the experiences as much as I do!

  1. HI Catherine,

I love your blog and have subscribed to it already. I was about to try the Whole Wheat Bread recipe but got stuck with the last line of the post
“Bake for about 30 minutes, or until the interior is 190 degrees F, or about 90 degrees C.(for those in Canada)”
I didn’t understand this instruction properly. Could you elucidate it a bit? What temperature should I bake the bread? Who’s interior was you referring to here? Oven’s I believe. I do not have a thermometer on me right now and I have a gas oven.
Waiting eagerly for your response. Do email me at dazzler29(at)gmail(dot)com

  2. Catherine,
I’m a big fan of your blog and I think our tastes converge really well. I’m a vegetarian college student also blogging (www.thebeetreporter.blog.com) and love the creativity and thought you put into your posts. I’ll keep checking back for more ideas!

    • By the way, when did you start your blog? It looks like maybe last summer? It looks like you’re making great progress (I’m also a newish blogger, I know how hard it can be to post regularly) and I’m loving the photos. Keep it up.
